Statement Of Faith
We believe that the Scriptures, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are divinely inspired and without error in their original writings. They are, therefore, our final authority in faith and life.
We believe In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus Christ, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, and to guide, instruct and empower Believers for godly living and service.
We believe the Holy Spirit distributes, as He wills, gifts of speech and service devoted to the common good and the building of the Church. These gifts are to be exercised under the authority of Jesus Christ. The Believer is to seek as evidence of the Holy Spirit's fullness, not the gifts themselves, but the giver, who is Christ. The gifts of the Spirit are to be accompanied by the fruit of the Spirit.
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is, therefore, lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation be obtained. We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only grounds for justification for all who believe, and thus become children of God. We believe that salvation is a gift for all mankind, but only given to those who by God’s grace and through a person’s faith, apart from works, one may be given eternal life.
We believe in the universal church, a spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, who are associated on a credible profession of faith for worship, work, fellowship and evangelism. Since Christ is the head of The Church, every local church has the right, under Him, to decide and govern its own affairs. This does not preclude the need for cooperation with and accountability to the larger body for accomplishing the will of God in winning the world to Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. The Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. These two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ and are, not to be regarded as means of salvation.
We believe We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the literal existence of a heaven with eternal joy for the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked in a literal hell. |
